Accessibility statement

Prepared on 01-10-2026. We review it at every release and at least once a year.

We want every parent, student, teacher and member of school staff to be able to use the school app and website, including people who use a screen reader, screen magnification, larger text, voice control or only a keyboard.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. Today the product is partly conformant: the basics below are in place and are checked automatically on every build, and the known gaps are listed further down.

What you can expect

  • Every field has a visible label, and an error message is read out together with the field it belongs to.
  • Text has a contrast of at least 4.5:1 against its background.
  • On the website everything works with a keyboard, the focus is always visible, and a "Skip to main content" link comes first.
  • Text can be enlarged to 200% in the browser or in your phone's font settings without losing content or actions.
  • Buttons and icons have names that screen readers (TalkBack, VoiceOver, NVDA) announce, and messages such as "Saved" are announced too.
  • Status is always written in words - Paid, Due, Absent - never shown by colour alone.
  • Buttons and links in the app are at least 44 x 44 points, so they are easy to tap.
  • Every screen is available in English and Hindi.

Known limitations

  • PDF documents such as fee receipts, report cards and certificates are not yet tagged for screen readers. Ask your school office if you need the details in another form.
  • How Hindi text is pronounced depends on the text-to-speech voice installed on your device.
  • The outline of input fields is lighter than 3:1 contrast. Each field is always identified by its visible label.
  • Testing with screen reader users and with people with disabilities is still being planned; until then we rely on automated checks and our own manual checks.

How we check

Every build runs automatic checks for missing labels, image descriptions, button names, keyboard traps and colour contrast. Before each release we check the main tasks - signing in, marking attendance, paying fees and sending a payment proof - with TalkBack, VoiceOver and 200% text.

Tell us about a problem

  • If something is hard to use or you need information in another format, tell your school office. They will pass it to us, and we aim to reply within 5 working days.
  • School staff can also raise a support request from Help in the app or on the website.
